Concert Orchestra is open to all students interested in playing a string instrument, in any grade or ability level. This group focuses on the basics and fundamentals of string playing while also exposing students to the challenges and rewards of string repertoire. The group performs at concerts and festivals throughout the year. Most 7th Grade students will be placed in the String Orchestra.
String Orchestra is an audition based ensemble featuring advanced level 7th graders and 8th graders. This group focuses on intermediate levels of string fundamentals and string playing while also exposing students to the challenges and rewards of string repertoire. The group performs at concerts and festivals throughout the year.
Chamber Orchestra is an audition based ensemble and the premiere orchestral experience for Reyburn string players. Students will play a variety of challenging and rewarding repertoire, for string ensemble and chamber ensembles. The Chamber Orchestra will perform at concerts and festivals through the year, and may require some after-school commitment for rehearsals and performances.
Auditions are required for String and Chamber Orchestras and will take place in April-May of the previous school year.
Incoming 7th graders are placed into an ensemble based on the Fundamental Skills Test scores and director recommendation.
